Warrensburg Police Reports for August 26, 2024 (2024)

AUTHOR'S NOTE: The Warrensburg Police Department issues their reports to the press once weekly. These reports are for every incident submitted from July 29th throughAugust 4th, 2024. The reports were submitted to KSIS on August 23rd, 2024.

On 07/28/2024 at approximately 2326 hours, Officers received a report of a suspicious person looking through the windows at Jellyleaf Hemp Company, 1125 North Simpson Dr Suite F. A Report was created for documentation.

On 7/29/2024 at 1254 hours, Officers were called to the 100 block of E Pine St. for an assault. A female subject assaulted two individuals, and caused a disturbance with a third. A couple of hours later, Officers took a report of a theft of a wallet that occurred sometime on the evening of 7/27/24 in the 100 Block of West Pine Street. A card in the wallet was used fraudulently at five different places in Warrensburg. Melissa S. Waite, 48, was located and arrested. Waite was transported to the Warrensburg Police department, processed, and released from custody pending charges of Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Receiving Stolen Property, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device.

On 07/29/24 at approximately 2353 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Jackson Street in reference to a disturbance. A female subject reported that a known male subject had damaged a bedroom door and then left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

On 7/29/2024 at 2305 hours, Missouri State Highway Patrol requested a drug recognition expert for an agency assist to 403 Burkharth Road for a suspected drug impaired arrestee.

On 7/30/2024 at 0338 hours, Officers were dispatched to 403 Burkarth Road in reference to a male exposing himself. Robert W. Butterworth, 58, was arrested for Indecent Exposure and was booked at the Warrensburg Police Department. Due to the male subject making suicidal comments and actions, he was transported to WMMC to be evaluated.

On 07/30/24 at 0700 hours, Sarah Wells reported a theft at 805 Brittany Drive. Wells stated that two firearms were stolen from her husband’s truck between 7/29/24 at 1700 and today at 0700 hours. Investigation ongoing.

On 7/30/2024 at 0734 hours, I responded to the 200 block of East Market Street regarding a theft report. Natasha Meddock reported an known female subject stole approximately $10,000 by falsifying time sheets dating back to 11/19/2023. Investigation ongoing.

On 7/30/24 at 0746 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Honda Odyssey in the 800 Block of North Maguire Street. The male driver was found to have a revoked driver's license and a warrant. Tylan Kavir Carter, 21, was arrested and transported to the WPD, processed, and then transported to the Johnson County Jail for his Probation Violation warrant on original charges of felony Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender) and Driving While Suspended. Carter also has another warrant for his arrest that was issued the next day for another charge of Driving While Suspended, with bond set at $1000 cash only. Carter did not appear at his latest court date on August 13th, 2024.

On 07/30/24 at 1030 hours, Gabriela Graves reported a theft at 809 Brittany Drive. Graves stated between the hours of 1830 and 0530 hours on 7/30/2024 an unknown subject broke into her vehicle and stole multiple items. The investigation is ongoing.

On 7/30/24 at 1103 hours, Officers took a report of a firearm being stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 500 Block of Creach Drive between 7/29/24 at 1630 hours and 7/30/24 at 0600 hours. Investigation ongoing.

On 7/30/24 at 1314 hours, Officers took an agency assist report for Knob Noster Police Department in reference to an assault that occurred in their jurisdiction. No further action by Warrensburg Police.

On 7/30/2024 at 1842 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 300 Block of Hawthorne Boulevard in reference to a missing female subject. The female subject was located at her apartment in the 100 Block of East Hale Lake Road.

On 7/31/24 at approximately 0117 hours, I was dispatched to Casey's at 303 North Maguire Street for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, the manager stated that two unknown male subjects stole a bottle of alcohol and left the store. The investigation continues.

On 7/31/2024 at approximately 1323 hours, Officers spoke to a female subject regarding damage to her vehicle while it was parked at 124 East Hunt Street. She stated that she caused the damaged herself. Officers then located a male subject who was known to have a warrant and was associated with the vehicle. The warrant on charges of Assault was confirmed and the male subject was arrested for the warrant. Lynell Oliver Jackson, 30 was transported to the Jail County Jail in lieu of bond. $1,000 cash bond was posted on August 7th.

On 07/31/2024 at approximately 1359 hours, Officers were dispatched to Walmart at 301 East Cooper Boulevard in regards to a theft. Walmart Asset Protection, Ryan Jones, reported that an unknown male subject passed the last point of sale in the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise. They stopped the male subject outside of the store and retrieved the items. The male subject left the property before officers arrived. The investigation is ongoing.

On 7/31/2024 at approximately 1223 hours, Behavioral Health Allies at 713 Anderson St. called stating that a known male subject had fraudulently billed them for services that were never provided. BHA paid the part of the invoices that they received totaling $960.46. This incident occurred multiple times between 6/9/2024 and 7/7/2024. The investigation is ongoing.

7/31/2024 at 1801 hours, Jian Huang reported that sometime between 1330 hours to 1700 hours on 7/31/2024, an unknown subject entered 505 Applewood stealing multiple items from inside the residence. This incident is under investigation.

On 07/31/2024 at 1909 hours, Officers were dispatched to MC Sports, 354 Hawthorne Boulevard, in reference to a bag containing a white crystal-like substance in the parking lot. Officers seized the bag and placed it into evidence for destruction.

On 7/31/2024 at 1852 hours, Officers arrived on scene at Walmart, 301 E Cooper Boulevard, for a report of a dog left in a car. Upon arrival, Officers located the car with all 4 windows 3/4 of the way down and a dog left inside the vehicle. Officers were able to make contact with an female driver who was subsequently arrested for animal abuse. The female subject gave false information and was arrested for obstruction. While on scene it was found that the female subject shoplifted from Walmart and arrested for this as well. Kathryn Kanani Bescher, 40, was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, booked, and released on charges of Shoplifting, Obstructing the Process, and Animal Abuse.

On 8/1/2024 at 1250 hours, DFS reported that there was a known male subject at the Western Missouri Medical Center, 403 Burkarth Road, with multiple warrants. Officers made contact with the male subject. The warrants were confirmed, he was arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail. Jordan Carl Hase, 36, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Trespassing, and a Probation Violation warrant on original charges of felony Tampering With a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. Bond was set at $1,000 on the PV warrant August 22nd, 2024.

On 8/1/2024 at 1645 hours, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at 606 Creach Drive. It was found that two female subjects were in an altercation about a cell phone. Both female subjects were arrested and transported to the Warrensburg Police Department. Patricia Lynn Conchola, 48, was arrested for assault, she was booked and released. Iquetta Bernice Babylou Gaines, 30, was arrested for a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Obey and posted bond. The owner of the cell phone did not wish to press charges for his cell phone being stolen.

On 8/1/2024 at 1817 hours, Carl Kegley reported that known male subjects sent a photo of his residence in the 900 block of Coventry Court that was threatening in nature. The male subjects have known gang affiliation. This incident is under investigation.

On 08/01/2024 at approximately 1859 hours, I was dispatched to 100 block of NE 201st Road in regards to a check the wellbeing on a male subject and a juvenile. Anthony Duane Hillsman, 52, was arrested for Child Neglect and an active Warrensburg warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Expired Plates. The juvenile was released to family. Investigation ongoing.

On 08/01/2024 at approximately 1950 hours, Officers were dispatched to a Public Service at 312 E. Franklin St. While performing a keep the peace, Officers identified one male subject with an active warrant out of Johnson County Sheriff's Office. Donavon Romel Johnson, 24, was arrested for the warrant on charges of felony charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and placed in the Johnson County Jail. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

On 8/2/24 at 0912 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Malibu in the 300 Block of East Young Street. A male passenger was arrested for a Johnson County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Displaying the License Plates of Another Person. Faustino B. Cornelio, 31, was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, posted a cash bond and was released with a new court date.

On 8/2/24 at 0936 hours, Officers took a report of a theft and forgery that occurred in the 700 Block of PCA Road on 8/1/24 from 1340 hours to 1435 hours. Investigation ongoing.

On 8/2/2024 at 1302 hours, Officers spoke with Rebecca Showers regarding a lost property report. Showers reported the loss of prescription medications from 421 Jefferson Street on Thursday 8/1/2024 between 2100 hours and 2230 hours. investigation ongoing.

On 08/02/24 at 1617 hours, Officers were dispatched to Walmart at 301 East Cooper Boulevard in reference to a theft. Shelbie Stafford with Asset Protection reported that a female subject was detained in their office for shoplifting. I made contact with the female subject who was arrested for shoplifting. Destiny D. Harris, 25, was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, processed, and released.

On 8/2/2024 at 2050 hours, Jeffrey A. Kinner, 42 turned himself in on his Lafayette County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Suspended and felony Resisting Arrest. Kinner was unable to post the $15,000 cash only bond and was transported to the Johnson County Jail.

On 8/3/24 at approximately 0130 hours, Officers were conducting a building check in the 100 block of W Pine Street and observed a known male subject shove another male subject. The male subject declined to pursue charges and the male subject was released from our custody.

On 8/3/2024 at 0144 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Cleveland Street in reference to an assault. Due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made for the assault. Jason Robert Grooms, 45, was arrested for his Buchanan County warrant on charges of Non-Support of a Minor Child and was transported to the Johnson County Jail pending a $1000 cash only bond.

On 8/3/2024 at 0738 hours, Officers spoke with David Manley regarding a fraud report that occurred in the 800 block of Laurel Drive. Manley reported he was scammed out of $1,000 by an unknown person posing as another on Facebook. Manley believed he was applying money via Apple Pay toward the down payment on a vehicle. The incident occurred on Friday 8/2/2024 between 1500 and 1600 hours. Investigation ongoing.

On 08/03/24 at approximately 1250 hours, Officers were dispatched to Days Inn, 204 East Cleveland Street in reference to property damage reported by Christopher Cash. Upon arrival Christopher reported that an unknown person had deflated/destroyed three of his tires on his on his vehicle. Investigation ongoing.

On 8/3/2024 at 1917 hours, Officers were dispatched to Walmart at 303 East Cooper Boulevard in reference to a theft. Asset Protection reported that a known female subject attempted to shoplift approximately $145.00 worth of merchandise. The female subject left the scene before Officers could arrive. Investigation continues.

On 08/04/24 at 1026 hours, a female subject reported an ex-parte violation in the 300 block of 3rd Street. The female subject stated that she received a call from a male subject in the early morning hours and that he came by her address and left flowers on her porch. Investigation ongoing.

8/4/2024 at 1228 hours, Officers spoke with a male subject in the 300 block of Grover Street regarding a fraud report. The male subject stated someone hacked his Facebook account and listed a vehicle for sale. A male subject in Clinton, MO. made a down payment on the vehicle of $300. He was directed to file a report with Clinton Police Department.

On 8/4/2024 at 1319 hours, I spoke with a nurse at Lafayette Regional Health Center about a sexual assault that occurred on the 400 block of E Russell Ave. A female subject reported to the hospital she was sexually assaulted this morning around 0030 hours. Investigation ongoing.

On 08/04/24 at 1648 hours, Megan Knowles reported a burglary at 700 South Holden Street. Knowles stated someone entered her apartment while she was asleep and stole her vacuum. Knowles stated this was sometime between 2100 and 0500 hours. No suspects are known at this time.

On 07/31/2024, at approximately 1359 hours, Officers were dispatched to Walmart at 301 East Cooper Boulevard. An Asset Protection Associate, Shelbie Stafford, reported that a known female subject shoplifting on 7/28/2024 items by "skip-scanned" multiple items and left other items in her cart without scanning them. She left the store before Walmart personnel could intervene. Investigation ongoing.

On 7/31/2024 at 2015 hours, Officers arrested a female subject at Walmart, 301 East Cooper Boulevard for animal abuse, obstruction, and shoplifting. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department. processed and released. During the arrest process the female subject initially provided a different name, DOB and SSN. She will subsequently be charged with forgery. The name of this person was not included in the arrest report.
